August 25, 2017, 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM @ Lawrence Public Library
The Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department and LiveWell Lawrence are displaying a photo gallery highlighting recent health advancements in Douglas County through Aug. 31 at Lawrence Public Library. In 2014, the Health Department received a three-year award from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to reduce chronic disease in Douglas County. Through the CDC award, the Health Department and LiveWell Lawrence focused their work on improving nutrition, increasing physical activity and reducing tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke. The gallery highlights the success in the areas of Safe Routes to School, Farm to School and tobacco-free parks. The public is invited to a reception during Final Fridays from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at the library, 707 Vermont St.
