The Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department and community partners will be hosting focus groups across Douglas County to learn more about the conditions and causes of key health issues in the county.
Residents are encouraged to attend one of the following 90-minute focus groups:
- Eudora — May 25, 7 p.m., Eudora Community Center.
- Lecompton — June 1, 10 a.m., Lecompton City Hall.
- Baldwin City — June 7, 6:30 p.m. Baldwin City Recreational Center.
- Lawrence —June 13, 6:30 p.m., Edgewood Homes.
- Baldwin City — June 20, 8 a.m., Baldwin City Recreational Center.
Light refreshments will be served. Topics may include: mental health, housing, discrimination, poverty, physical activity and hunger.

Each focus group will discuss:
- Strengths of Douglas County
- Conditions and causes of health issues and how they impact on the community
- Ideas for possible solutions
Information provided by community members will be used to shape the Health Department’s understanding of priorities to be addressed through planning and collaborative action.
The Health Department will be scheduling additional focus groups.
