City Ordinance

Under Lawrence city ordinance, Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health began inspecting non-residential/public pools and spas in the early 1980s. These inspections and the information provided to pool/spa operators during these visits help ensure the public’s safety and prevent health hazards.

Inspection Process

During an inspection, Environmental Health staff check that the water has adequate chlorine levels to kill bacteria and that safety equipment is in good, working order.
