Eligibility

WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) is for pregnant and postpartum women, infants and children up to age 5 who meet income guidelines. You may be eligible for WIC services if you answer yes to any of the following questions:
Are you pregnant?
Are you breastfeeding a baby?
Have you had a pregnancy in the past 6 months?
Do you have a child under the age of 5?

- Can I receive WIC benefits if I am receiving food stamps? -Yes, you and your family can receive both WIC benefits and food stamps through the Kansas Food Assistance Program.

Breast Milk Benefits
Breastfeeding helps protect babies from colds, flu, and other health conditions, including:
- Allergies
- Colds, coughs
- Colic
- Ear aches
- SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)
- Tooth decay
Breastfeeding helps protect moms from:
- Breast and ovarian cancer
- Brittle bones (osteoporosis)
- Blood loss after birth
Breastfeeding reduces:
- Money spent on formula and extra bottles
- Number of sick doctor visits
- Time missed from work / school
Income Guidelines
The income guidelines (PDF), which are 185% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, are:
- $37,814 annually for a household of 2
- $47,767 annually for a household of 3
- $57,720 annually for a household of 4
- $67,673 annually for a household of 5
Online Prescreening Tool
The WIC Prescreening Tool usually takes less than 15 minutes to complete and can be used to determine if you may be eligible for WIC benefits. It is not an application for WIC.
